Birley Bakery

Birley Bakery

Birley Bakery

The inspiration from the display at the Birley Bakery is drawn from two main scenes in the film – Eliza Dolittle in the old Covent Garden Market, and Eliza Dolittle at the Royal Ascot Races scenes.

The details of the original Covent Garden Market are recreated with the distinctive blue painted iron work architectural details in the main flower hall. Wooden flower crates, towers of flower filled buckets, and an old flower cart recreate the blocks of colourful flowers seen in the film. Buckets are dressed with ribbons and hessian, mixing the prettiness of the Royal Ascot scenes with the raw Flower Market Scenes.

Upside down Edwardian umbrellas filled with flowers hanging in the windows and the whole shop front is festooned with swags of ribbons, inspired by the Royal Ascot scene, held up by roundels inspired by old Covent Garden Market. Finally, a sumptuous display of plants and flowers placed around and on the flower cart are observed by two Flower Market doggies going about their business, representing the “scally wag” informal nature of the flower market.

Zara

Zara draws inspiration from the film adaptations of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet throughout the years, with arguably the most iconic version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1996.

The display, featuring peonies, bougainvillea and the symbol of love; roses, exudes beauty and romance, setting the scene for our very own star-crossed lovers.

beeboon

beeboon’s inspiration comes wanting to watch little ones getting excited about the little mermaid and everything that surrounds her.

The beauty of the sea and all the life it brings is something they want to celebrate – this aligns perfectly with their brand values, and to make it even more magical, their summer 2023 summer collection has a selection of items with sea and mermaids as main patterns.

The movie message “there’s no dream too big or too small” is one they believe in, and they want families to be able to dream. They want to provide a unique opportunity to young artists to develop their skills, show their work and follow their dreams by bringing this idea to life. Therefore, we chose Suzana Sotomaior, prop maker at Royal Central School of Speech and drama to work alongside us.

Amaffi

Amaffi

Amaffi Perfume House has created a unique interpretation of The Jungle Book. Taking inspiration from Amaffi Perfume House’s signature scents from The Jungle Collection; Tropical Rain and Sultry Jungle, they have been inspired to create a veritable jungle setting which will adorn the facade of the store, utilizing a mixture of luscious green foliage and dried tropical textures, including large sculptural leaves and striking rare plant specimens which add beautiful pops of reds, purple and oranges throughout. Woven into the very fabric of the jungle setting, a black panther sculpture, formed by skilled artisans and using assorted black plant materials, adds a curious and detail driven moment. Taking centre stage, the most exquisite and detailed Kaa sculpture will adorn the jungle framework they have created. Draped lovingly around exotic branches in a fluid and authentic manner, this floral piece will resonate and bring to life an iconic moment from the film, allowing guests to immerse themselves within the scenography and take their perfect Jungle Book inspired photograph. The hero of this tale, Mowgli, will greet guests on arrival into the store as he peers upwards towards his friend Kaa, a realization of an iconic moment within the film.

Côte

Côte

Côte let the seasons take the lead and no ingredient captures the mood of spring quite like asparagus, their lean stems, tender tips and bright green hue spell ‘British springtime’ like nothing else. With only the shortest of seasons, their appearance onto their menu is something of an event and exactly why they wanted to feature them in their installation. Their floral installation will also showcase the delicate elderflower (which you will find in their two seasonal cocktails and their Crème Brûlée this month), alongside thyme, gypsophilia and asparagus fern.

The Organic Pharmacy

The Organic Pharmacy

chelsea in bloom

Organic Pharmacy have chosen the beloved character from the books to the screens, Winnie-The-Pooh for this year’s Chelsea in Bloom display. Whenever the character is mentioned no one can deny the feeling of nostalgia and comfort you experience. For years he has taught us the importance of imagination, individuality, valuing friendships and most of all HONEY!

The honey used in their products is organic. It is produced from the pollen of organically grown plants that do not have any chemicals that can harm the bees. The Organic Pharmacy have recently signed a petition calling on the government to implement a total ban on the use of neonicotinoids in the UK. These chemicals are harmful to bees causing damage their nervous system and motor function when they feed on pollen or nectar.

They believe that all honey should be organic, not contain any of these nasty chemicals and bees that should live happily and healthily which is why they feel so strongly about this petition – and are sure Winnie-The-Pooh would agree!

“A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference” – Winnie-the-Pooh

The Black Penny

The Black Penny

The first wave of coffee shops to arrive in England were as much a place to signify a revolutionary movement as they were a place of comfort. Anyone was welcome in the Coffee House; whether you were an aristocrat or a soot-stained street hustler, all you needed was a penny. And so ever since, the traditional term for coffee shops has been Penny Universities.

We are very pleased to invite you to our own ‘Penny University’. Come and join us at The Black Penny in Duke of York Square and unwind with one of our signature cocktails and sample our delicious menu. You can even have your picture taken with our one of a kind Penny-farthing bicycle in all its glory.

Scribbler

Scribbler

Scribbler’s display celebrates the British countryside and its lovely wild plants and flowers. They have interpreted the theme of ‘Extraordinary Voyages’ to reflect the current times of staycations with people exploring and reconnecting with the English countryside again. They also wanted to nod to the Royal Mail, after all they are a card shop and everyone sends postcards, cards and letters back home to loved ones when on holiday or having adventures.

Everything from the design, the planting and building has been created by the staff who work in the shop. Nearly all of the items required to bring the idea to life have been gathered, found or grown by the team, helping to create a display that they love.

Sticks'n'Sushi

Sticks'n'Sushi

Sticks’N’Sushi has had an extraordinary voyage in its history, mastering Japanese cuisine, adding Nordic aesthetics and the hectic and vibrant feel of the UK, hence the inspiration behind the floral installation,” says Cosette Perez, UK Head of Marketing of the restaurant group.

With a strong emphasis on sustainability, the dragon is made with carnations, solidago, aspidistra, crocus and ruscus. In total, 6,800 stems of flowers and foliage have been used for the display. Nothing that harms the environment, such as oasis, has been used in the creation of the dragon.

“From Japanese mythology we have a creature with clawed feet depicting good, wisdom and strength, and we have channelled the Norse sagas and skaldic poem where the vessels of chieftains and kings, known as dragon ships, had carved dragons’ heads adorning them for protection, warding off the spirits of both land and sea.” – Neeva Shore of In Water Flowers.

LK Bennett

LK Bennett

At LK Bennett, our extraordinary voyage has seen us explore the globe, and just like Phileas Fogg before us, we arrive in Italy, where we’ve discovered endless inspiration, luxury fabrics and expert craftsmanship to create beautiful LK Bennett pieces.

Our partnership with Grace & Thorn explores this special place for this year’s Chelsea in Bloom, which is influenced by all things ‘la dolce vita’. Our extraordinary voyage through Italy takes LK Bennett on a European adventure with an abundance of olive trees, crates of lemons, terracotta potted lavender plants and verdant ferns all complemented by dried flower meadows. Hanging glass bottles create a curtain of autumnal flowers and foliage reminiscent of fields of flowers from the Italian landscape where our traveller has arrived and set their luggage down.

Utilising space both inside and outside the store to create a multi-dimensional installation, a focal bench will sit under a large olive tree outside our store, creating a wonderful space for everyone to interact with and be part of the celebration. Dried flower meadows and potted plants will be found inside the windows, with additional touches throughout the store.

We hope it conjures up a feeling of Italy, in the heart of Chelsea.

In celebration of Aesop’s first year at Duke of York Square for the Chelsea Flower Show, we are working with the magazine Pleasure Garden and the florist Fjura to create a flower installation. Using a combination of timeless pieces and adding soft feminine touches will create a beautiful romantic occasion wear setting. Decorated birdcages are the focal point, adorned with flowers, ivy, eucalyptus and beads with a rose gold centerpiece. Elegant vintage cream luggage with a beautiful blush/ ivory/ sage bouquet sits on the parquet floor with a Chiavari chair decorated with a chair posy for sitter mannequins. The second window will nod to our Made to Measure service – this will mirror the style, using a tailor’s bust and Singer sewing table and hanging framed imagery. Wood and ivory lace haberdashery elements, and trailing ivy plants will create a harmonious overall effect. Finished with specially curated bouquets in line with our floral theme, all elements together will create a stunning spectacle.

Elliot Rhodes

Elliot Rhodes

Carnival is all about self-expression and living the moment but it’s something that has to be experienced in person and not from afar, so this year our beloved ‘Lucy’ has packed her bags and taken the long flight to Rio. She’s there for the party, dressed in her finest sparkling emerald gown and ready to flutter her floral butterfly wings in true carnival style. Being the special envoy of Elliot Rhodes she of course accessorizes with leather – sporting both a metallic leather head dress (made from recycled belts) and figure hugging bodice.

Lucy has literally been crafted and built from scratch over the last weeks by the talented team at our Duke of York Square store, all the way down to the floral selections and planting.

Influenced by the colourful, vivacious and larger-than-life floats historically seen at the Rio Carnival parades, Agent Provocateur have installed a grandiose exotic elephant shaped float, made from richly coloured Celosia, Gloriosa and Dianthua flowers.

Aboard the elephant float, are four beautiful show-stopping carnival showgirls wearing exclusive Agent Provocateur archive pieces, as well as lingerie ranges Azure and Pammie from the current Spring Summer 2016 collection.
